LENA SCISSORHANDS

“Lena Scissorhands (* 22. November 1986 as Elena Cataraga in Chisinau ) is a Moldovan singer , songwriter and model . She became famous as the lead singer of the Moldovan nu-metal band Infected Rain.

As the eldest of three siblings, Lena Scissorhands grew up in poor circumstances. Her mother had to support the family and therefore had little time for the family. Lena attended school in Chișinău and began to be interested in alternative music at the age of 13 . Fascinated by hard riffs and aggressive vocals, she discovered her love for metal music at the age of 14. She later worked as a make- up artist and trained as a hairdresser , from which her nickname “Scissorhands” can be traced back.

In 2008 she founded the band Infected Rain together with guitarist Vadim “Vidick” Ozhog and Ivan ” DJ Kapa” Kristioglo. The band had their first appearance on August 3, 2008 as part of a Slayer Tribute concert; the first EP Judgmental Trap followed in 2009. Since she had never had singing lessons before, Lena Scissorhands began to take lessons from the singing teacher Tatiana Robertovna. From then on she also devoted herself to songwriting by writing the lyrics for the songs of Infected Rain. Her texts are about personal experiences, fears and disappointments that have happened to her in life.

In the following years the band had numerous live performances as part of the festival , tours and in the opening act of Eluveitie and Lacuna Coil . In order to meet the growing demands as a singer, Lena Scissorhands took lessons in 2013 from the renowned singing teacher Melissa Cross in New York City , who had already worked with other well-known musicians. [4] [5] On October 18, 2019, the fourth studio album Endorphin was released. Again Lena Scissorhands wrote the lyrics for all songs. The album received mostly positive reviews.”
